The National Association of College and University Attorneys was created in 1960 with the purpose of enhancing legal assistance to colleges and universities by educating attorneys and administrators about the nature of campus legal issues. NACUA’s members are non-profit, regionally accredited institutions of higher education in the United States, Canada and further abroad. The association has grown to more than 3600 attorneys representing 1600 campuses.

NACUA wanted to provide the most up to date educational programs and deliver them in a medium that would be accessible to their members 24/7. In order to reach these goals, NACUA decided to add an eLearning program to its mix of educational programs. While NACUA had plans to build their own online courses, they were in need of a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver the content.

Learners would need the ability to download course content for viewing offline, either on a computer or as MP3 audio for listening while traveling. Additionally, the Learning Management System (LMS) would need to enable the subject matter expert to communicate directly with the learners. NACUA also wanted an eCommerce system that would allow members to purchase the e-Learning course and be granted immediate access to the content.

THE SOLUTION

NACUA ultimately chose the Knowledge Direct® Learning Management System (LMS) powered by Digitec. The eLearning platform met all NACUA’s requirements and is easy-to-use. The built-in content authoring tool converts Microsoft PowerPoint® presentations to interactive Flash-based e-Learning modules, as well as audio podBlast version, automatically. And the integrated eCommerce shopping cart makes it easy for NACUA to create or update courses at anytime and instantly add the offerings to their shopping cart.

NACUA is also able to limit the length of time a course is available to its members and send out automatic email prompts to remind users of courses or deadlines. The Knowledge Direct Learning Management System (LMS) features hands-free administration including: built-in student registration and assessment tools; built-in Help and Contact Support; and automatic email acknowledgment of course completions. For administrators, the system provides robust web-based reporting, including course access, completions. Triggered events let NACUA automatically contact students who have not accessed within a specific period of time, making it easy for NACUA to manage their online continuing legal education (CLE) program.

THE RESULT

By utilizing Digitec’s Knowledge Direct LMS, NACUA is able to:

· Deliver online continuing legal education (CLE) courses and track usage and course completions.

· Provide an open means of communication between subject matter experts and learners.

· Allow 24/7 online continuing legal education (CLE) to its members.

· Offer its members remote access to course content.

· Easily create new courses and convert existing content into eLearning.

· Make changes to course content as needed - quickly and easily.
